Making Goat Milk Soap & Shampoo has become a passion for me!
I was so concerned about finding a healthy shampoo without all the harmful chemicals like: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Parabens, Phthalates, Dimethicone, Synthetic Fragrances, DMDM Hydantoin (and other formaldehyde-releasing preservatives), Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs), Triclosan ,and Isopropyl Alcohol.
It took me on a journey of making my own soap! My family has so enjoyed switching to the natural alternative that I hope you will too!
Why choose natural lye bar soap for shampoo?
- Natural lye soap can be better for hair because it effectively cleans without harsh detergents or synthetic additives, which can strip natural oils and irritate the scalp.
- While it temporarily raises the pH, it doesn’t disrupt the hair’s natural oil production as aggressively as many commercial shampoos, making it so you don't need conditioner and less frequent washes!
- The slight alkaline nature helps open the cuticles, allowing thorough cleansing and supports a healthier scalp over time!

They are also a very eco friendly alternative to traditional shampoos since there is no plastic packaging.
A few quick notes about being successful with a natural bar shampoo:
- Lye soap shampoo bars are alkaline (basic pH), which can disrupt the hair’s natural acidic pH (4.5–5.5) and leave it feeling rough or heavy. A vinegar rinse restores the natural pH balance, smoothing the hair cuticles for softer, shinier hair. It also removes soap residue and supports a healthy scalp. Using a rinse weekly keeps your hair clean, balanced, and refreshed.
- For best results, I recommend diluting apple cider or white vinegar in an old large shampoo bottle that you can keep in the shower (so you don't forget to grab it!) and pour on 1/4-1/2 cup over your hair after washing with the shampoo bar. Leave in for a minute or two then thoroughly rinse! I promise you won't smell like a pickle with a good rinse!
- Storing your bar in a closed container that allows it to fully dry between washes is the best way to get the most out of your bar as possible! This is my personal favorite way to store it in the shower (Link).
Ingredients:
Earl Grey Scent: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, sweet almond oil, goat milk, Sodium hydroxide, Loose Leaf Earl Grey Tea, Bergamot and Lavender essential oils
Cedar & Frankincense: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, sweet almond oil, goat milk, Sodium hydroxide, Cedar and Frankincense essential oils; colored with bentonite clay.
Grapefruit & Lavender: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, sweet almond oil, goat milk, Sodium hydroxide, Grapefruit & Lavender essential oils; colored with iron oxide.
Rose & Lavender: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, sweet almond oil, goat milk, Sodium hydroxide, Rose & Lavender essential oils; colored with iron oxide and zinc oxide. Topped with Himalayan Salt and assorted flower petals.
Rosemary & Sage: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, sweet almond oil, goat milk, Sodium hydroxide, Rosemary & Sage essential oils; colored with iron oxide. Topped with Lilies (This scent is amazing for hair growth due to the essential oils present!!)
Sandalwood & Bergamot: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, sweet almond oil, goat milk, Sodium hydroxide, Sandalwood & Bergamot essential oils; colored with iron oxide.
Tea Tree & Peppermint: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, goat milk, sodium hydroxide, Tea Tree & Peppermint essential oils, topped with salt; colored with iron oxide. (This formulation is amazing for those who deal with dandruff!)
Vanilla & Frankincense: coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, caster oil, goat milk, sodium hydroxide, Vanilla & Frankincense essential oils, topped with himalayan salt; colored with iron oxide.

Kyla I love my shampoo! I did the vinegar thing and it was like a science experiment lol it made my hair immediately smooth again! My hair feels totally clean and normal!
I love their body soap and toothpaste as well!!
